Cabbagetown's Best-Known Haunted House -
A Friendly Ghost...
It is said that the young teenage daughter of Benjamin Brick – the builder of 308 Carlton Street – is haunting this house. She died as an early teen, likely of pneumonia or tuberculosis.
She apparently changes and straightens up items in the hallways and the rooms. On cold winter nights, she scribbles words or draws simple images in the frosted windows.
It has never been verified but there is a rumour that this is one of the only houses in Toronto where the deed clearly indicates that the house is haunted.
This house changed hands very rarely since it was built but every new owner had to go through a very disturbing time in the first few days after moving in. They could feel a “presence”. One even called a priest to help move the ghost out of the house. It was unsuccessful.
